Perched high on Olympia’s Westside, this 120-year-old Craftsman proves an old home doesn’t need to lose its soul to live beautifully for another century. Following a groovy 1970s remodel, the home was thoughtfully reimagined around preservation, sustainability, and craftsmanship. Original fir floors were revived, while Douglas fir salvaged during demolition found new life throughout the home: shaped into arched built-in bookcases, a butcher-block island, a sweeping 24-foot curved bench, and even the range hood. Modern engineering and energy improvements are woven quietly into the original character, creating a home that feels distinctly historic, unexpectedly modern, and entirely one-of-a-kind.
Please note: Remodeling still in
progress during the time of the above photo.
